Art Deco takes its name from an international exhibition held in Paris in 1925; Exposition internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes or Arts Decoritfs for short.

Period Art Deco beds are beds in the Art Deco style made from the 1920s and 1930s but can include good designs from the 1940s. The Art Deco movement favoured woods such as walnut and also saw the reintroduction of exotic woods, often favoured in the Regency period such as rosewood and zebra wood. During its heyday, Art Deco represented luxury, glamour and exuberance and Initially Art Deco furniture was bespoke and expensive hand-made pieces of good quality furniture, later becoming lesser quality as it was mass produced. Still some good quality later examples can still be found. Karma Beds stocks a good selection of Art deco beds for sale online.
